I was in charge of weekly instruction for seven students, conducting both classical and commercial seminars, and leading Jazz Band and Small Group. I have held both licenses for over 5 years. I also have previous experience as the coordinator for an after school program through Chicago Public Schools, which I was employed by, and running the program as well. My teaching philosophy is "exploration as a road to mastery." I help students build a repertoire they can perform. This tends to be a combination of songs they know and love, and songs that I introduce them to. I introduce the elements of music theory in relation to songs. Scales, harmony, and ear training are grasped better, and enjoyed more, once a student has context.
