I was introduced as a 6 year old into the Thompson and Diller Quayle methods via my classical piano instructor who was a college professor at Lewis Clark College in Portland, Oregon. My jazz instruction took me through the Michael Aaron method and the Mikrokosmos. At Instrumental Music in Los Angeles we favored the Bastien and Alfred methods, and since moving here to Nashville I have added the Faber Faber method and the brand new Helen Marlais system to my repertoire. As they grow more confident we work on more particular subjects like tone, scales, proper breathing. Practice is a must, the will not get anywhere they want to be without constant practice. In 2019, I attended the Brevard Music Institute on full scholarship as a Resident Assistant. I also won the 2018 Scruffy City Orchestra Concerto Competition and was chosen as a finalist in the University of Tennessee Concerto Competition in 2017, 2018, and 2019. In addition to solo playing, I have professional experience performing in bands and orchestras.
