I will pass on the warmup methods that I was trained to do from my professors at Berklee and Manhattan School of Music. We will also go over the difference between practicing and jamming and how to do both in between lessons for I believe they are both important for vocal development for different reasons. I will keep an astute eye and ear on elements such as breath management, intonation, tone quality, phrasing, diction, expression, interpretation, stage presence, preparation, musicianship, and last but not least, attitude. I have performed with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra since 2018 and also the assistant principal cellist of the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. In addition, I have played with the Richmond Symphony, the Ocala Symphony, Sinfonia Gulf Coast, Northwest Florida Ballet, Sewanee Summer Festival Symphony, and many other orchestras and ensembles. If it's not obvious, I love performing orchestral repertoire, but also chamber music and pretty much anything else you can think of - and this love of music extends to teaching. Read More

I am is a singer, songwriter and guitarist based out of Nashville, TN. Although firmly rooted in bluegrass and classic country, my music incorporates elements from all facets of American roots music drawing inspiration from jazz, blues, rockabilly and old-time. I lead my own country band which plays original music as well as the music of my honky-tonk heroes such as Merle Haggard, George Jones and Gram Parsons. I am an in-demand side man and when not performing with the band, I play guitar and sing with a number of other musicians and bands including The Bad Oats, Miles Burger and Corrina Tadros. Read More

My teaching does not cut corners. I often tell young students to watch the movie "Karate Kid" and play close attention to the "Wax on, wax off" scenes. (Fortunately, there are practice supplements using play along tracks that make this process more fun and less tedious). I not teach "songs", but I do teach the language of drumming and the language of music. I am an advanced reader and all of my students will be required to read at least some music, however I do understand that many students learn by ear. Read More

I've always found that my students who seem to have the most fun are the ones who progress the fastest, so my primary method is to approach lessons with material that students are interested in. I try to keep things fun and interesting by doing things such as incorporating a student's favorite music into a lesson. It's important for a student to practice regularly with discipline and focus. However based on my experience, nothing propels a student forward faster than the happiness and satisfaction gained from 'nailing' a new lick or figuring out a cool new trick. Read More

I like to take a very personalized approach to teaching and my methods can vary greatly depending on my students goals and interests. I think the most important aspect of learning the guitar is enjoying the process of practicing the instrument. Because of this, I base my lessons on what each individual student desires to learn, teach them concepts in the context of the music that they love, and give them the technical and theoretical concepts behind the music they're passionate about. Though I adapt my approach and conversation techniques for all of my students, my underlying philosophy is the same for every student Ive ever taught. The philosophy is that progress is what were striving for, not perfection. I assess the skill and technical abilities and grow from that point. Moving forward is the goal, as a person, student, musician, and even my ability as a teacher. I also learn from my students which pushes me towards progress as well. Read More
