For standard piano lessons, Bastien and Faber methods are always a hit with both children and adults. For Saxophone lessons I use the "Standard of Excellence" book that most school bands use. I have also written a lesson book of my own that I use pages from. The method of teaching is as follows: 1) assess where the student is in music and in life, 2) ask about goals in music, 3) formulate objective to reach those goals, 4) rethink things when needed (students aren't cookies, so I can't use a cookie cutter). My passion for teaching began in my Junior year of high school in 2011-2012, when I spent 6 months teaching guitar lessons to elementary school students at a local YMCA after-school program. With a class size of approximately 10-15 students, I learned many valuable teaching methods for students of all backgrounds and learning methods.
