For beginning and intermediate students, I like to assign short pieces from method books such as Student Instrumental Course and Rubank. For more advanced students, I will help them explore their particular interests, introduce them to traditional repertoire, and for jazz/rock/pop students, aid them in the process of transcribing the music they love, which benefits their vocabulary as well as their ears. In developing a complete musician, I want to offer support for my students' other musical activities, as well as provide them with resources that they might not have elsewhere. Read More
Instruments: Piano Saxophone
I make the study materials cut across other areas of musicianship like sight-reading (by notating their choice of songs), technical etudes/studies to improve physical fitness such as accuracy, tone quality, articulation on the instrument, harmony, and history. Asides teaching musical instruments, my students and I discuss artistic goals and music business especially for those who would like to make a living as full-time musicians. I also get them to play recitals because I believe it helps them gain more confidence to face not just the audience but also life beyond music. Read More

My love of music gos back to when I was a child. I was lucky enough to have support and encouragement through my parents and friends. I was fortunate being exposed to all kinds of music as a high school student in the early 90's. I went to Berklee College of music in Boston, MA from 1996-1997. I transferred to Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY fall 1997. This is where I got to study with Al Gallodoro and developed a love for contemporary classical music. Read More

I play saxophone and keyboards in a nationally touring funk band. We regularly headline music festivals and currently focus our shows in and around New England. I've also recorded on several acclaimed artists' albums. I have a background in jazz and studied Piano and Saxophone Performance and Jazz Composition at Berklee College of Music. My teachers were amazing as I progressed through the schools. And they were so fun and inspiring that I want to make playing piano or saxophone as exciting and rewarding for you as it was for me! I have always felt such a deep sense of satisfaction when a student finally nails a difficult tune or passage, or is introduced to something in music that blows their mind. Nothing is better than inspiring a student to grow and progress, and that has always been at the core of my teaching style. I always want to strike the balance between constructive criticism and praising accomplishment in our lessons, as I understand that realistically not everyone wants to play music professionally. I've taught private lessons for around four years, since I was a junior in college. I now also teach music theory and composition at The Community Music Center of Boston. I believe that, as great as regular, focused practice is, it is also my job as a private tutor to shape each and every lesson around an individual student's specific needs. I've seen a lot of teachers use a cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all pedagogical approach, and I don't think that's productive for my students or myself! Read More

The most rewarding thing about teaching is seeing my students cultivate their love for music, and self-confidence in their sound! In order to best achieve this, the most fundamental understanding is that each student learns and progresses at his or her own pace! With this in mind, I believe the best way to achieve results is to set realistic goals for each lesson - goals that utilize skills practiced in the lesson, yet set the stage for the next lesson are most ideal.
