I have been teaching over 30 years privately and also at different institutions. Currently I am a piano faculty at the Hartt school of music in the University of Hartford. I have been teaching from young students to seasoned adults and chamber music coaching. For beginning students, particularly children, I use the Piano Adventures books. I recommend the student getting their Lesson, Theory, and Technique Artistry books to start. From there I will add in popular and classical pieces based on the students interest and ability. I do almost the same for teens and adults, just using the Piano Adventures adult books. I have been teaching guitar and piano privately for the past 10 years ago, and was even selected by the Hartt School to be a piano tutor during my junior and senior years. In my undergraduate studies I took a few courses dedicated to the art of pedagogy. Through these courses I even had the opportunity to teach in front of renown faculty and gain insight from experts. I believe that every student is unique and deserves a unique approach from myself as a teacher, so I do not stick to regimented lesson plans. I work each week to plan out how best to convey the information needed, but if things need to change in the lesson, I adapt to provide what is needed for the student to still grow.
