I am graduated with my Bachelor of Music in Music Performance at The Pennsylvania State University studying with distinguished professor Velvet Brown. I am currently pursuing a Master of Music in Music Performance studying with Professor Lance LaDuke. I play euphonium, trombone, tuba and piano and can teach all four. I currently have 10+ years of teaching and playing. I have many ensemble experiences including 3 time Connecticut All-State Concert Band, 1 time NAfME All-National Concert Band, 1 time NAfME All-Eastern Concert Band, orchestral experience both in youth ensembles and at Penn State, Concert band experience at Penn State, and chamber ensemble experience in tuba/euphonium quartets and brass quintets. For beginning students, I use Faber Methods. Once the student has progressed, I would introduce solo repertoire that supports the skills necessary for improvement. Usually, I ask students if they are DYING to learn a piece, and with that selection, I'll look for techniques that can be improved upon. For adults, I try to ask what they are interested in learning, and help gauge the technique into their learning. There are many series of books now available with varied styles of music from beginning to intermediate levels such as those by Martha Mier, Robert Vandall and Christopher. Very young students and sometimes even those who are older have difficulty understanding musical notation and it is useful to teach them by rote while also improving reading skills. Read More

I like to know what activities other than music they enjoy, what their favorite/least favorite subject is in school, what they want to be when they grow up, what motivates them and what doesn't.
