I am a pianist, teacher, mother and wife. I have BM from Elizabeth University of Music in Japan and M.M. from the New England Conservatory Of Music in Boston, MA. I was a former organist in Boston College, a pianist in Simmons College. I perform more than 20 recitals in year around Ct. I accompany to instrumentalists, vocalists, solo and I get commissioned to play premier pieces by composers. I am also a substitute keyboardist in the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and I play often such music like " Harry Potter" and "Indiana Jones". I have been teaching over 30 years privately and as a Chamber music coach. I am also a piano faculty at the University Of Hartford, the Hartt School Of Music.
I have been teaching over 30 years privately and also at different institutions. Currently I am a piano faculty at the Hartt school of music in the University of Hartford. I have been teaching from young students to seasoned adults and chamber music coaching. I am a classically trained pianists but also I took a jazz improv seminar and have taken private jazz piano lessons for years. I do not force anyone to play or think only one way to play piano since everyone comes in different sizes. I always try to work with the student's need in what he or she needs to make the most fun and productive time. Because what I believe is the progress comes with having a good time and not only from working hard.
Currently I am not teaching beginners. I start with whatever the books they have and experience and preference of music they have. I also bring copied music to introduce them to different styles of music to see what they would be interested in and what they need to work on technically and musically. I also ask them, "what is your goal to take piano lessons?" to set a personal goal for each student to make mile stones to achieve their goals. I provide all my students to have performance opportunities 2 times in year.
I believe that everyone has their own speed to accomplish their goals. I know how hard to keep practicing and performing from my own experience. However I want them to experience the satisfaction of accomplishment which only the players can experience. That's why I am very patient and supportive of every step a student takes and needs no matter how long or how hard it takes. I believe that everyone can enjoy learning piano and share the power of music which is the soul food for every human being.
