In high school I have played with various music orchestras including the Atlanta Sumphony Youth Orchestra, All-State Orchestra, and Gwinnett Symphony Youth Orchestra. I have been teaching violin, guitar, and piano for 12+ years privatelly and for diffferent schools. I also serve as the music director at King David Community Center, creating curriculum for children and senior citizens. In addition, I own and operate my own recording studio where I work with a Grammy Winning producer and mixer and compose scores for independant films.
I began assisting teachers during high school for extra credit. It later became my job during Full Sail. I worked extensively with grades K-5 on reading, writing and math skills enrichment. When I graduated I started to see my joy was working with children and helping each individual get to their own "next level" and that is when I began teaching music privately. I encourage my students to enter competitions and recitals of which I help with the prep for and can conduct them there if need be.
I explained much of my teaching style in other sections; however, I am successful in getting my students more motivated than one would expect. I'll say it again: my hunger for knowledge and love for music is energetic. Music is contagious. Open your ears! It has been and will always be everywhere.
I have been teaching for 30+ plus years and I enjoy working with students of all ages and backgrounds. I help all my students identify their passion for music so that they can create realistic goals and achieve them.
I am a passionate musician. In fact, I come from a family full of talented musicians and educators. The most influential on me is my father. He is the head of the Instrumental department at Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington DC. He pretty much sparked the idea of education in music for me. I have a degree in Jazz Studies from Howard University. Howard created the same vocal jazz program that was highlighted on NBC's competition the Sing-off. During my undergraduate time I was apart of those vocal ensembles and worked closely with professors and students to write, arrange and perform full length vocal compositions. Soon after graduation, I was a full-time musician giving freelance voice lessons, and also teaching jazz voice while an artist in residency at Duke Ellington. During my time at Duke, I continued to perform and record around Washington, DC. This is where I began to be recognized for my talent, and was approached by an independent label who would soon thereafter move me to Atlanta, Ga to pursue my goal of being a full-time artist. It was this time that I really learned what it takes to be apart of the music industry truly as talent. I relearned my vocal technique through Jan Smith studios. They taught what singers are really trying to learn. How to sing current music in a healthy, but stylistic way. Often times in collegiate environments the future is overlooked because the curriculum is still in the past.

Our piano lessons take place in a one-on-one setting and are customized to the requirements of each individual student. To get started, beginners may cover aspects of piano playing such as posture, hand positions, fingering technique, scales, chords, and applying these things to simple songs. They will also start to develop their knowledge of music theory, reading chord charts and sheet music. As their dexterity, co-ordination and speed progresses, they can start broadening their musical horizons. They can learn new chords, playing and performance techniques and styles, such as legato, staccato, glissando, runs, and fills, as well as work on their sight reading and general theory (time signatures, modes, modulation, etc.). Advanced players often want to study a particular genre or composer, or work on certain aspects of their playing and repertoire. This may include improvisation, or exploring different genres or styles, such as Avant Garde, Jazz, or Classical piano.
We offer piano lessons for students of all ages, including adults. Whether you are a complete beginner on the instrument, or you have not played the piano in many years, the knowledgeable instructors in our network can definitely assist you in your journey of developing your musical skills.
Children are recommended to start piano lessons no earlier than age 4 or 5. The attention span and personality of the child are factors to consider when thinking of taking lessons. Even if your child has no evident musical inclinations, piano lessons offer a great option for introducing your child to music. During their lessons children will learn sight reading, music theory techniques, ear training as well as fundamentals of music.
We suggest students purchase a piano or keyboard for their lessons, as they will need to practice every day in order to develop their skills on the instrument. We recommend a keyboard with weighted keys, as this will feel most similar to an actual piano. An actual piano will have 88 keys, but most keyboards start from 61 keys and go up from there. Common keyboard brands found at music stores are Yamaha, Casio, and Korg. Many keyboard sets will come with a case, stand, headphones, and may even offer recording features for recording your own playing.
In home lessons are what 90% of our students request. Not only is it a convenient means to study music, but we also notice no difference in the quality of lessons done in-home or in-studio since they are typically structured the same. The main benefit of in-home lessons is the reduction in travel time to another location. Additionally, the student may be able to focus better in their own home since they are familiar with it. Piano lessons in the home offer a practical choice for your family for learning the skill of playing a musical instrument.

Kevin was such a fun, smart and innovative voice teacher to work with. I had the pleasure of taking lessons with him for over a year and I couldn’t have been more pleased with my time under his training. In just a few weeks I noticed my voice was stronger and I was able to apply his teaching and see the results. He explains his techniques in a way that the student is able to actually hear and feel the changes he is referring to. This allows the student to efficiently practice outside of lessons. Even further, he believed in me and truly cared about my progress. He was always energetic and focused in lessons and was continually surprised how far a song could come in just one hour of his time. Eduard is an amazing teacher. (Coming from someone who previously knew the basics of playing and music.) He is not to harsh with his words and is extremely nice. Eduard has a great amout of experience and displays it through his teachings. Specifically by making it easy to follow along with his words to actions. As a person with a wondering mind whom is distracted easily, it is easy to pay attention.

There are only a handful of people I count in my life who were great teachers, and Laura is one of them. Her musicianship is so secure as are her technique and personality that she zeros in on my weaknesses and devises exercises to strengthen them, and during the lesson it is not "Do this, no, do that" which is unnerving to a novice. She understands the most important part of study is relaxation, so that is easy to achieve with such a confident and compassionate human. Music is her life and she is eager to share her talent with everyone. A rare find, indeed!

After signing up for lessons with David L. I knew I made the right choice. Just after a couple of weeks I didn't see him as a teacher but as a best friend. There was always a relaxed atmosphere during the lessons. He was very easy to talk to and he really listen to you. If I ever had a question he would answer. He tailors to what ever you want to do in that lesson. David L. is a great teacher and a friend. I totally recommend him for anyone

Ted S. is teaching clarinet to one of my children, and piano to two others. He is extremely knowledgeable, and very encouraging. His teaching methods are keeping my children enthused about their lessons, and without that, you have nothing. Two of my children were taking piano lesson from another teacher for the past year, and not progressing. Ted has been able to evaluate their skills individually, determine what was missing in their music education, and begin again with some early basics they seem to have missed. I am convinced we are finally moving forward, and am very happy about that. I wish I would have made this change much earlier.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
