At all levels (beginner-advanced), I teach piano performance, technique, music theory, ear training, and sight reading. My curriculum follows the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) standards, and students are strongly encouraged to take RCM examinations as they progress through each level. I mainly have experience with teaching younger children general music. I prefer to do half-hour lessons for beginners and young musicians. After more lessons can be prepared, forty-five minute or hour long lessons are more appropriate. For trumpet students, I rely heavily on the Arban method for the essentials and then add other materials depending on the student's goals. I always try not to push for practice assignments, students are busy for school homework, outdoor activities, family obligations, most importantly, students should have fun to play music, of course practice is important, but if students lost interest in music playing, it will be hard to continue to have lessons.
