For beginning students on piano, I typically start with Piano Adventures. For beginning students on saxophone, I typically start with fundamentals like Sound production with long tones, embouchure exercises, A Tune A Day by C. Paul Herfurth. Once the student as progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce repertoire across several genre of music as well appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

To me, nothing is more rewarding than seeing my students' passion for music arise during, and after lessons. For this is the way i believe important progression happens, when the student is passionate about the subject matter and eager to explore and most importantly enjoying it in the process. I always try to set an attainable goal for each lesson, its through these accomplishments that encourages a student to keep progressing and learning more about the instrument and music. Read More

I am a passionate teacher who believes that everyone can make progress in their chosen instrument, including in singing. I meet you where you are and we work to make progress from there. Whatever style you want to sing, learning to use the instrument in a healthy way will make things easier and more satisfying. In my studio we learn by playing games, using imagery, using yoga to experience how the body feels and sometimes just good old fashioned counting. Read More

I approach teaching on an individual level - what's important to me is why you want to learn to play music. Then I can help you get there. Some adults have very different goals and expectations for wanting to add music to their life, than say a school-age student. I have had students who wanted to be virtuosos, and some who merely wanted to experience playing favorite songs without learning reading and theory. Read More

Depending on the level of the student, there are three structures of lessons I provide. The course for beginners includes introduction to sound, keyboard of piano, touch, playing from the scores, synchronization of hands. It is taught with easy classic exercises and well-known pieces like Scarlatti sonatas,Czerni etudes and Bach's two/three voice inventions. During intermediate level course the main focus is on pedals, basic dynamics of performance, two-three voice patterns and phrasing, Finally, the last but not least, the course for advanced students includes introduction to the form of classical sonatas of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, virtuoso etudes of Chopin, Liszt, more complex articulation and more complex romantic pieces like Hungarian Rhapsodies,Ballads and Scherzi. I can best describe my musical teaching style as relaxing, attentive, encouraging and professional. As a mother myself, I have a deep understanding of how a child develops through the different stages of life and how they learn the best. I believe every student has their own method and speed of learning and I am here to teach and encourage them through this beautiful journey of music. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing my students learning happily, enjoying music and developing a lifelong love of music. Read More

It's important to me that students are invested in their own lessons, and what this means will differ from student to student. For some five year olds, that may be simply participating in the whole lesson and practicing a few minutes per week. For others, it may mean being challenged with advanced materials. Each student will receive a unique repertoire and lesson based on ability and interests. I focus on technique, then repertoire, then theory, then review for a 30 minute lesson, and younger students will often get a fun music-based game at the end if the lesson has been fruitful.
