I find that the most important thing about teaching, especially teaching music, is finding what your students are interested in and getting to know them on a personal level. As a teacher, I have to learn about the unique learning styles my students have, their individual needs, and their goals and dreams as a musician in order to best teach them. Praising accomplishments and encouraging public performances is also very important as a teacher, as for the student, that positive feedback will drive them towards more success in the future. I graduated with a BS in Music Ed and enrolled in many piano pedagogy classes. I have taught music education in Harford and Baltimore County Schools and taught band and orchestral instruments. M performances have included concertos, 4 hand music and chamber music. I attend BSO and Schriver Hall concerts and very active with the Music Teachers National Convention I like to improve my teaching and performing techniques and currently am coached by the BSO pianist Lura Johnson who also teaches at Peabody Conservator of Music. I maintained students on and off throughout my 7 years of music teaching in public schools following graduating from college, but lost many students when I relocated from Baltimore to Lancaster.
