I am an instructor who tailors lessons based on the student's desires. Having been a performer since I was 13 years old, I work as a musical coach. This series covers singing in English as well as several other languages and provides a good foundation for singing. Anything else I do with the student is on an individual basis. For younger brass students (10-14) I would teach out of the Standard of Excellence Books unless they are more advanced where I would start them in the Arbans Book, Robert Getchell Book, and/or Schlossberg Book. Additional solo repertoire might include Faber books on Jazz and Blues or Musical Theatre or Classics for children. Adults may start with Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course. I tend to custom the lesson plans related to the students interests too . In general I teach scales, reading music, learning to sight read, metronme training, along with muscle development and strengthening. My first piano pedagogy classes were at the Cleveland Institute of Music in 2005-2006, and I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity for practice teaching not only at the Cleveland Institute of Music but also at the MacPhail Center for the Arts in Minneapolis, MN.
