Every student has different needs. I offer a relaxed style of teaching. Safe, comfortable evironment. Parents are always welcome to attend lessons for their students if need be. I have a student tell me what their goals are and we go from there. Some students may have a greater understanding of how the language on the page works. Others may have very natural ability to play the instrument, but may have more trouble with the notation if you will. Read More

Every student has an experience unique to themselves. I am strict about meeting the goals developed by each student. However, the learning process is highly individual. You will learn at a pace and with a curriculum we develop to best suit your learning style, musical preference, and goals. Based on these goals, I will figure out the best method of incorporating theory, technique, and improvisation. I like to work on a piece of repertoire and tell we have perfected whatever the main goal of the piece is. Read More

I believe in finding its own method for each student. Sometimes it takes a lesson or 2 to understand the student's motivations and find a path to make learning and playing an instrument enjoyable, fun and productive and progressive at the same time. For clarinet beginners, I start with Fred Weber's method book which has pretty simple melodies and is easy to follow and understand and all kids very enjoy it. Read More

Each student needs a long-term goal in mind for where they want their voice to be. I like to start out by setting a couple realistic goals for the long-term with my students, then breaking those goals down into manageable steps each associated with one or two pieces. I also want students to know that they are accomplishing their goals, so I have my students tape lessons and listen back later to hear their progress. Read More

As a teacher, I've learned so much from my colleagues and peers, but likely not as much as I've learned from my students. I've found that some teaching practices are outdated and I think I can bring a fresh and modern perspective to teaching music. I like to base my lessons around the student's natural curiosity and desire for learning music. Whether that be trying to play in the school band or wanting to learn a Led Zeppelin song, I believe that giving my students this ability to make their own decisions, helps them become more confident, motivated, and passionate about succeeding as a musician as well as in their own personal lives. My final goal is how to enjoy singing. In my opinion, the most important thing is that singing should be comfortable to both a singer and an audience. For this reason, I generally help them to sing comfortably. Most of the students have a common problem to sing. I would say it is artificial voice which makes their voice tired and injured. When I taught students some of them struggled with development about their voice quality. Read More
