For beginning students I use Faber and John Thompson books. Once the student improves of course we upgrade to more challenging songs and books. For adults I find out what they're interested in and instruct accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and always fun no matter what. I like to start out with the Hannon Book. That has various excercises that helps with note recognition. Worksheets will be given out with those as well. Teaching students HOW to read notes, and HOW to recognize them takes a few weeks so that's normally what i like to start with. Once they grasp those fundimentals, then we move on to learning songs they are familiar with such as London Bridge, This Old Man, Mary Had A Little Lamb etc. Read More
