Tuff H

Instruments: Guitar, Music, Electric Guitar, Classical Guitar, Acoustic Guitar

I begin my Classical students with the Julian Sagreras guitar method book, then move into the Aaron Shearer Learning the Classic Guitar series. Once students have a firm grasp of the fundamentals, we begin on solo repertoire. For contemporary styles, I prefer to start complete beginners on the Hal Leonard guitar method books, and then I encourage them to seek out artists that they enjoy. In all of my lessons, students will analyze chord structures, sing and dictate melodies, and learn history about the guitar and general music. Read More

I began teaching in 2015 as a percussion mentor at an elementary school while in college. Upon graduation, I joined a community ensemble and taught masterclasses to community members on a variety of topics such as rhythm, musical interpretation, and stick control. I currently teach private percussion lessons both virtually and out of students homes, and I aspire to eventually have a home studio of my own that's large enough to teach out of as well. Read More

Matt M

Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Drums, Bass Guitar, Ukulele, Music, Keyboard, Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar

For all my students I like to balance between making our way through a method book and breaking down different songs and exercises. I recommend Hal Leonard's Essential Elements/Method books or Standard of Excellence books for my woodwind/guitar/ukulele students, Piano Adventures by Faber books for my piano students, and Breaking It Down or Alfred's Beginning Drumset Method for my drum students. Once the student has gained an understanding of basic sight-reading, then we can move on to more advanced books that can be focused on a theme or other advanced methods. Read More

Recitals and informal play-alongs boost confidence, provide a sense of achievement, and allow students to share their progress with others. Fun and Engagement: Learning piano should be enjoyable! I strive to make each lesson fun and interactive. When students have fun, they are more likely to stay motivated and committed to their musical journey. Teaching Techniques Technical Exercises: Scales, arpeggios, and finger exercises to build strength, dexterity, and precision. Read More
