These three basic characteristics I've found, win over a students faith in a teacher, and greatly increase the rate of comprehension, application, and acquisition of knowledge. I develop my curriculum around student interests, which fosters motivation and stimulates the passion to learn. One way to steer learning in a direction relevant to student interest, is to invite student dialogue about the lessons and units of study. Thank you for visiting my page. I guess music found me. On a family trip to Mexico by way of Arizona when I was eleven years old I remember guitars seemed to be everywhere. I asked my mom and dad if I could have the toy. When we got home from the trip I registered for music lessons and the guitar soon became my favorite toy. I started teaching regularly in college. For 7 years, I have always had some semblance of students whether they be private or part of an afterschool program. I like working closely with each students, getting each of them to branch out and challenge themselves. It is through this method that I find what really interests them and move to pursue that interest. I teach elementary age students who can barely hold a cello to students of my own age. Read More
