I believe that each student's success - no matter how big or small, needs to be celebrated and encouraged. Acknowledging a student's efforts is vital for their own motivation to continue to work hard, and it is such a heart warming and rewarding feeling to see a student grasp a concept that they were once struggling with. It is very important to me to learn each student's personal goals and objectives, and to plan my instruction based on what that student is after. Read More

I am an extremely patient, passionate, and thorough teacher who enjoys helping anyone on their interest in drums and music. I have been fortunate in my life to have had great teachers from an early age and I am excited to share the information that has been brought on to me. Originally from Texas, I studied with the great Houston jazz drummer, Sebastian Whittaker which led me to transferring my studies to William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey. Read More

For beginning students, I typically start with the Suzuki Method while combining it with the Essential Elements Method. As the student learns the fundamentals I gradually add scales and exercises to further develop the student's technique. After further progress, I begin to introduce solo repertoire and add other pieces. I'm fairly flexible on what pieces the student may play in the lessons, as long as the rudiments and classic repertoire are covered. Read More

I have taught music since 1994, when I was in college. What was at first a part time job blossomed into a full time job when local music stores and luthiers began recommending me. I have a strong roster of about 30 students, and maintain it mostly through word of mouth and recommendations. I teach out of my private studio, as well as people's homes. I have trained students for recitals, recording, various types of bands, and competitions. Read More

I asses each student differently according to their skills and match my teaching approach to each one individually. It is very flexible and I can combine easily musical technique to what they want to learn, that way no matter how complex the musical subject might be the student will always have a clear idea how to apply those concepts to the music or genre they are studying because it is always focused on real application of a determined technical or musical theory concept, making the basement of the student more solid. I covered a little of this in previous paragraphs but I utilize the students ability to learn without the instrument in hand and utilize themselves as the instrument. One example of this is I tea h them to mark time with their feet and subdivide the best into qurters, eighths, etc... and then test them thru aural rhythmic dictation. Also with little children I work into the lesson movement thru pitch high and low and show SOUND thru spatial relationships. Read More

Each individual student has their own character and environment, so I respect that and I can work with all different types of people and it has been successful. I encourage my students to find their own inspiration to meet their goal and to progress their work, and I can develop to build their progress by trying multiple ways to achieve their own success. Also, individual student has different phase of their progression, so it takes long time with step by step to accomplish during the learning process, but I am patience and happy to encourage students to until they can make it.
