I use what some have called the target approach. With this method you are working on one concept at a time, and you should always have one concept in mind while you practice. Some examples of beginning concepts are 1) keeping a steady beat, 2) sound quality, or 3) smooth finger technique. In one practice session using the target approach you may spend 10 minutes on target 1) and 15 minutes on target 2). After completing both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees at that school, I continued with my doctoral studies at Cornell University. There, I continued to teach music theory and aural skills classes, and taught beginner music students the fundamentals of notation. After my graduation in 2015, I went on to become Assistant Professor of Music at the Conservatory of Ipek University, in Ankara, Turkey. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it; the most rewarding parts of my China tour was my time spent coaching young pianists in music schools. After finishing an apprenticeship in carpentry and becoming a certified carpentry journeyman, I worked as a trade showroom carpenter in Berlin and Vienna. For my mandatory conscription in Austria, I served as an ambulance paramedic. I obtained a bachelor's and a master's in music and dance performance and education at leading universities in Salzburg and Barcelona. From 2008 to 2011, I worked for the University Mozarteum Salzburg, producing, light-engineering, shooting and editing final performances of graduating students using professional studio camera equipment and software. Most importantly, we are all here to have fun and enjoy playing music.  I always encourage my students to take risks, have a laugh and ask questions.  I work to build the student's confidence in their playing, ability to practice well, ability to perform in public and ability to be comfortable making mistakes.  We all progress at various rates and progress at any level is an accomplishment that each student should be proud to achieve.  If a student or parent of a student expresses their interested to move forward in a serious capacity, I am more than happy to encourage such movement. When I was a student at MSM the head of tutoring noticed me helping students and signed me up with a tutoring service that led to a position in a few schools and finally put me in the faculty of MSM pre colloege division.
