I have over 25 years experience teaching Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, and beginner-intermediate Piano to children and adults of all ages. I am active in the NYC jazz and improvised music scenes, and have toured throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe including concerts in Sweden, Germany, Austria, France, Hungary, and Portugal. I continued my classical training under the tutelage of a graduate of Philadelphia's world renown Academy of Vocal Arts and long-time performer of the Metropolitan Opera. I decided to train in contemporary musical theater and pop technique under the teacher of several Broadway stars. I have performed in musicals, short films and Operas here in New York City. I started teaching music in college through my babysitting network. When the mothers and fathers of the children I cared for found out that I played piano and woodwinds, many of them asked if I would also give their kids private lessons. Having a knack with kids and with music, my music teaching practice quickly blossomed in that small town. I have found that while it's important to keep kids sharp in their ability to read music on the page, it is at least as important to engage their creativity off the page. Read More

I began teaching in 2012 as a senior in high school working at a community music school's summer arts camp in New York. I worked there for five summers as an assistant instructor. I taught beginner and intermediate French horn and trumpet lessons while working there. Many of my students, both at the camp and in my private studio have gone on to make District Bands and Honor Ensembles. I was the brass instructor at a sleep away arts camp in the summer of 2016 where I taught brass ensemble, wind ensemble, jazz band and a chamber ensemble class. Read More

Along with being a freelance drummer, I started teaching private drum lessons at an after school program at the Trinity School in NYC from 2010 until 2017. Later on that year I started teaching at another after school program at the Village School in NYC until 2018. It was both challenging and yet rewarding to keep a certain level of engagement due to the fact that the lessons were scheduled after the student's full day academic obligations. Read More
