I will start off my lessons with the Bastien Piano Basics course. The student will use a lesson book, a performance book, a technique book and a theory book. Once the student has reached a certain level, they will begin lessons in Piano Literature and John Thompson's Modern Course for the Piano. I'm a passionate instructor who loves to share my love of music and discover all the possibilities that a student can have with the instrument. I graduated from the Puerto Rico Music Conservatory with a bachelor in trombone performance. Working as a trombonist with the Navy band Southeast, I'm constantly performing in different ceremonies and teaching masterclasses around the Southeast area of the US, including Puerto Rico. As a soloist and freelance musician I'm very active in the Jacksonville scene, not only playing classical music, but also latin music and popular music; with Symphony Orchestras and other small and large ensembles. At this stage the music becomes more difficult and lengthy, so I like to group phrases of the piece in sections until they can be played together cohesively. My curriculum varies depending on what instrument and style the student is learning. For orchestral string instruments I use the Suzuki method books but also others. The Simandl book for bassist is an amazing resource as well. Modern Reading Text by Louis Bellson is a great book for improving not only your rhythm reading ability but also sight reading.
