Bachelor's degree in Music Education
I graduated in 2008 from IUDEM in Venezuela with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education. During my time in Venezuela, I performed with various ensembles and orchestras specializing in Latin music, jazz, and pop. Here in the United States, I’ve continued expanding my musical journey, performing with Latin fusion groups that explore a wide range of styles, including jazz, rock, salsa, merengue, pop, and vallenato. I’ve also had the opportunity to play at several festivals, such as Unidos en la Música, the Seafood Festival in St. Augustine, the Springfield PorchFest in Jacksonville, and other events throughout the state of Florida.
My experience spans 30 years, beginning with my university studies. For the past five years, I’ve taught students of all ages, always focusing on helping them feel the music from within and connect with the songs and styles they genuinely want to learn. I’m flexible in my approach because it keeps students engaged and motivated. My lessons are practical and interactive, while also incorporating music theory so each student can understand the structure, harmony, and purpose behind what they are playing and learning.
The methods that shape my teaching are diverse, but at the core is the Dalcroze approach, which transforms music theory into a lived, physical, and intuitive experience. I begin with practical exploration and adapt each lesson to the individual needs, interests, and learning style of every student. By connecting movement, listening, and creativity, this approach keeps students motivated, engaged, and excited about learning. My goal is to help them develop not only skill, but a genuine and lasting love for music.
For me, it is essential that every student advances at a pace that feels natural and comfortable for them while developing a deep and lasting passion for music. I nurture this growth by setting realistic, attainable goals and providing the guidance, structure, and support they need to reach each milestone with confidence. I believe that celebrating every achievement—no matter how small—helps students recognize their own progress and sparks the motivation to keep going. By acknowledging their efforts and reinforcing their strengths, I create an encouraging learning environment where students feel inspired, capable, and excited to continue exploring music with effectiveness, curiosity, and joy.
