Taking music lessons is an awesome experience, and my goal is to make it as fun and accessible as possible for each student. I have high expectations, but I make sure that the goals we set are achievable and realistic for each student. We discuss those goals together, and work toward them at the right pace for the student! Everyone is different, and I want to make sure that each student gets the best learning experience for them! Read More

Just a couple of methods I use below: Bastien Piano Series Suzuki Method Maia Bang Techniques Hrmaly I am not officially set to one method and am pretty flexible towards the students wants and needs. Each student learns differently and at their own pace. At the first lessons I feel it is important to understand the interest of the student and continue instruction based on that. Keeping my students engaged is of utmost importance. Read More

We toured much of the east coast and Europe. When I left the Marine Corps I put together a band that toured around the southeast. first i ask what the student desires to learn . what type of music etc. once i have taught a few songs i ask the student to write a list of songs that they would like to learn. i teach how to find the key that the student sings in and how to transpose the song into that key. if the student does not wish to sing i teach them how the instrument of their choice works . again regardless of the instrument i usually am able to teach a student two songs in an hour lesson . one in four four timing and one in three four timing . there is nothing better than to see the light come on in a students face and see the confidence of ' i can do this ! My experience spans 30 years, beginning with my university studies. For the past five years, Ive taught students of all ages, always focusing on helping them feel the music from within and connect with the songs and styles they genuinely want to learn. Im flexible in my approach because it keeps students engaged and motivated. My lessons are practical and interactive, while also incorporating music theory so each student can understand the structure, harmony, and purpose behind what they are playing and learning. Read More

I love guitar and can talk music for hours on end. My development as a guitarist took me from being an arrogant teen who "knows everything" to an undergraduate music major finding shortcomings in my playing every day, to finding new things to incorporate in my playing beyond the fret-board. I have played in multiple bands in a rock, jazz combo, big band, and classical style I have taught and mentored other musicians for years. Read More
