I have been teaching in some capacity since college. I have directed a high-school praise team and taught guitar, piano, and recorder in a corrections institute. One of my earliest students was a former band-mate. One of the early lessons is the importance of practice. He saw for the first time my work ethic and commitment to daily practice. What I learned from the experience is the importance of demonstrating good music study habits and encouraging the students interest in music so that they can continue to grow and enjoy the guitar. My experience spans 30 years, beginning with my university studies. For the past five years, Ive taught students of all ages, always focusing on helping them feel the music from within and connect with the songs and styles they genuinely want to learn. Im flexible in my approach because it keeps students engaged and motivated. My lessons are practical and interactive, while also incorporating music theory so each student can understand the structure, harmony, and purpose behind what they are playing and learning. Read More

My style involves around having a "recital" piece that we work on at all times, as well as technical exercises and different games to increase music theory, rhythm, sight reading, ear training, etc. We set goals and work to accomplish them in a timely manner. I always take time to make sure you as the student are comprehending what I'm explaining to you. Some technical instruction is done with arpeggios, scales, chords, etc., but in general, I try to keep the lesson as interesting as possible so that we can have fun while learning! Read More

Nothing is more important for me than seeing a student succeed! I am a firm believer in giving a student plenty of praise and encouragement for all their hard work. I think it is important to give credit where credit is due, and I definitely will not hold back any positive feedback when they have accomplished something new. I am sure there will be mistakes, but I do not think we should dwell on them. Read More

Hi! My name is Megan, and I have a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance and Choral Conducting from Andrews University. Before that, I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Voice Performance from Southern Adventist University. Performing has been a joy of mine, and I've had the opportunity to perform with some amazing groups, such as Andrews University Singers and Southern Adventist University's I Cantori. Most recently, I had the privilege of presenting Gustav Mahler's "Kindertotenlieder" song cycle at the Howard Performing Arts Center in Berrien Springs. Read More

Since High School (2005) I began to teach music in my own studio in Puerto Rico, working with kids and adults. My main goal is to create a collaborative work plan. I will never impose a single method in all the students, because we all have different aspirations and different priorities. I will help you as a student to accomplish any goals you can have and I will do whatever it takes to keep you motivated. Read More
