Instruments: Trumpet Flute
For beginning students I normally begin with the basics of making a sound. I focus on the fundamentals once a sound can be produced. I use Hal Leonard's Methods as well as Arbans. I also ask the student what they believe the instrument should sound like. Read More
Instruments: Piano Music Keyboard
I taught piano, cello, and music theory for 10 years, both privately and in schools. I always encourage students to seek out and explore music that they enjoy and wish to master. I have taught students of all ages and can provide to each individual's needs. I've prepped students for auditions, entrance to music schools, competitions, and I've taught complete beginners. I can also teach lessons in either English or Mandarin Chinese. Read More
Instruments: Piano
I started teaching since I was a college student, which's seven years ago. From that time, I have been consistently teaching students until now. The students I've taught were in different age and level. Due to the differences between students, I change my teaching methods a lot. The youngest kid I taught was in age four. I set some fun exercises to let her be interested in learning rhythm and notes in a natural way. Read More
Instruments: Guitar Trumpet Trombone Bass Guitar Euphonium Acoustic Guitar
My teaching experience dates back to my college days, having taught private trumpet, guitar, and bass guitar students in Fargo, North Dakota, and continuing to do so in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, where I taught guitar, trumpet, and trombone at B's Music Shop. My collegiate teaching experience began at Concordia College, being a Teaching Assistant for a Brass Methods class, and fulfilling a similar teaching the same course at Central Michigan University. Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet
Lessons will be tailored to each student's interests and goals. I will encourage strong foundation skills - such as tone, articulation, scales and basic theory, for a short example - for those aspects are very important. Whether the student wishes to incorporate those skills a Broadway Musical Show Book or to prepare themselves for success in school band, district band, or school auditions I am happy to help students find the fun in music! Instruments: Saxophone Clarinet
For beginning students, I start with Essential Elements, or another comparable method if their band program uses another book. Once the student reaches middle school and has a good concept of fundamentals, we progress to the Himie Voxman Selected Studies and Duets books. For high school and advanced middle school students, I use the Baermann Division III book, the Klose Method, the Rose etudes for clarinet, as well as beginning to introduce appropriate solo repertoire. Instruments: Piano Flute
My teaching experience began while in college in Annville-Cleona and Palmyra School Districts in college and then after graduating with my job in Maryland with Prince George's County Schools. Most of those experiences were with general music classroom teaching with some private band instrumental teaching and directing. Most of my teaching experience has been with piano instruction and a little band instrumental instruction in my home studio since my resignation from that first music teaching job. Read More
