I graduated from two different schools, one in France focusing on what we call "amplified music" which are all the modern style of music: Rock, Pop, Soul, Funk, Metal, Reggae etc... and the other school in Spain focusing on Jazz drumming performance. My teaching experience is rather diverse. I started teaching private lessons thirty years ago and I always loved sharing what I knew with others. I've never stopped teaching private lessons, but I've also taught group lessons and music classes in private schools, I've taught adult classes and I've taught college classes at two schools in New Jersey. I like to combine fundamentals of music with showing students what I'm currently up to with the main goal of getting the student to be able to play what he or she wants to as soon as possible. With piano students I enjoy using John Thompson and Alfred methods for beginners and I choose different songs as students get more experience. For voice students I use simple songs to develop their vocal technique. Through effective warmups and reading, students will develop musicianship skills. When parents can involve as our teammate, they will see the improvement. When students can play well, the backstage heroes are always the parents. For my voice students, I emphasis on breath support without pushing the voice, so student won’t feel tired easily from singing with a much more projected voice, and I also teach them vocal health. They are equally important. When voice students can sing with good breath support, they can sing any songs they like. Read More
