I approach teaching on an individual basis, meaning it's important to me to know the goals, hopes, passions, and if applicable, the worries or insecurities the student is feeling. In a first lesson I identify something that is special and unique about each student, and build their technique from this place. I find this helps the difficult areas feel a little less challenging because they already have something they feel proud of when working through the discomfort of something new or intimidating. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Music Tree and Basien beginning piano. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and enjoyable, no matter their ability level. Read More

Each student will be unique, and will be taught differently. It depends on the student as far as their skill level. I can start with scales, and basic warm ups, and move on to songs that they like that is within their level. I want the student to enjoy coming to a lesson, so I will pick songs or they will pick songs that they like, and if I feel they are up to the challenge, we will work on those songs. Read More

With an intense focus on character study, I've performed lecture recitals and partial roles of Baby Doe (The Ballad of Baby Doe), Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Blondchen (Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail) and Musetta (La Boheme). I've performed these roles and in concert at stages like Carnegie Hall, The Kimmel Center, NJ PAC, Provincetown Playhouse, Frederick Loewe Theater, MPAC and Roxbury PAC.
