I teach classical music exclusively. My strategy for utterly inexperienced students is to remove from the equation the difficulty of reading a music score, and just allow the hands to "learn" the keyboard by having the student repeating short musical sentences (either preexisting or improvised by me on the spot). After studying jazz performance at the University of New Orleans under the tutelage of jazz icon Ellis Marsalis, I attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston being awarded the Best Entering Student Talent scholarship in '02 and the Berklee Achievement-based Scholarship in '02, '03 and '04 graduating with honors in 2005 with a Major in Bass Performance.
