I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements or the Suzuki books. That said, I usually start my absolute beginners off with open position chords and, when they're ready, open position scales - pentatonic and diatonic. We explore repertoire, often partially of the student's choosing. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Miami University in 2018 with a Bachelors of Music degree in Vocal Performance and a minor in Musical Theatre. I have had the chance to perform around the country in various ensembles, and attended the American Institute for Musical Studies in Graz, Austria studying in their Lieder Studio. At Miami, I performed in five operas, and performed in chamber and jazz ensembles.
