Overview:
Chris finds immense purpose behind the drum kit and strives to spread positivity through his music. He has been drumming for over 10 years and has been gigging professionally for over 6 years, performing in a variety of contexts, including both large and small jazz ensembles, funk bands, hip hop groups, singer-songwriters, and pop bands. He cultivates a unique sound at the drums, combining elements of African, Caribbean, and South American rhythms with traditional Western grooves to create something entirely fresh and powerful. He has been fortunate to study under amazing musicians and educators such as Chase Ellison at the Eastman School of Music, Mark Walker at the Berklee College of Music, Juan Mejia, Jon Butterworth, Kerfala "Fana" Bangoura, and Bill Tiberio.
EXPERIENCE
After college, I was given the opportunity to teach at Centre Music--the community music school where I received my first drum lessons back when I started. I loved this opportunity for it was a chance for me to give back to the place that got me started with studying drums formally. My students were incredibly inspiring and after this experience I decided that teaching was something that I was going to be doing for a very long time after. My goal as a teacher is spark a passion in music and drumming and to give the students the tools to make music and get them playing music as soon as possible.
METHODS USED
First and foremost my goal as an educator is to inspire students to have a love, passion and excitement for music by tailoring my lessons toward each student's unique goals and interests. I aim to prepare students for any situation they may encounter by providing them with a strong basis in the fundamentals of music and drumming, along with improvisational techniques, skills for ensemble playing, sight reading skills, soloing, developing excellent tone, and proper technique to play with ease. I also provide a clear motivation behind everything I teach by demonstrating practical applications so that my students are inspired to practice and make music a part of their daily lives. My students will walk away with practical skills that they can use to create beautiful music when playing with other people.
LESSON STYLE
My goal as a teacher is to inspire students to develop as a passion, love, and appreciation for music and drumming. I tailor my lessons towards the students unique goals and interests so that they will be inspired to practice and so that they will be excited about what they are learning and progress quicker. As a teacher, I want to get my students actually playing music as soon as possible. For that reason, I stress not only practicing drums in my lessons but also listening to and studying a wide variety of music so that my students can learn to play music not just drums.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
