I stress the importance of regular practice in order for students to make weekly progress, and ultimately desire to help them develop their playing technique and theoretical knowledge while making room for them to explore their personal interests and enjoy playing their instrument. Since I have a broad array of musical interests, I am accordingly open to incorporating different aspects of musical study such as writing and recording into lessons as students progress, as I find the act of creating something of one's own to be an incredibly valuable part of making music. The lessons are set up to maintain a balance between fun (to keep them encouraged) and necessary exercises to build the foundations that will excel them to the next level. I am a percussionist , drummer and beginning piano instruction. I have a music degree as well a master's degree in education. I have been teaching for the past 20 years with both school age student's as well as adults in individual and group settings. For older and experienced students, I look to work on a wide range of styles to help the student understand the nuances of performance techniques and promote an understanding of how interconnected various performance styles are.
