In 1977, I graduated from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Performance. In 1999, I was certified to teach Music K-12 by the state of North Carolina after attending NC Central University. Over the years I have larned invaluable lessons about drum kit instruction. Teaching many different students with many different personalities, lesson needs, practice habits, and so on has led me to develop a flexability in my teaching that allows the individual student to get the most from each lesson. I encourage my students to push their musical boundaries and reach beyond what they belive they are capable of. I started teaching piano at age 16 after being certified by my own instructor. I had one student I saw weekly and though at first she was against the piano, I worked with her intensely on genres and styles that she enjoyed playing. I also substituted for my piano instructor when she was sick and taught a plethora of children. When I volunteered at the local elementary school, I taught grade schoolers piano on the upright in the auditorium and that's when I fell in love with inspiring future musicians. Read More

I use Suziki Violin Method, Bastian for piano. I have also been developing my own method, and it's dependant in the students agenda. I encourage the building of reperatore early on. I have also used Liytle Einstein piano method and varies products produced by Hal Leonard. I find the students goals are very formative to the approach I choose to take. I am an experienced trombonist located in Raleigh, NC. I have established an exceptional playing career spanning from Middle and High School, having won chairs in multiple All-District honor bands, to performing with numerous ensembles spanning genres such as classical, jazz, and funk. Currently, I actively perform with the Greensboro Concert Band, Tobacco Road Trombones, and the Kings of Swing Jazz Orchestra. I have also previously performed with the Raleigh Civic Symphony, New South Funk Band, and assisted the Green Street Baptist Church orchestra and jazz band for special performances. Read More
