I graduated with both my BM MM degrees in Classical Flute Performance at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University. I have studied with Kaoru Hinata, Keith Underwood, and Bart Feller as my primary flute instructors. In Russia, I was a concert pianist as well as a teacher of classic piano theory and performance.  I was a soloist who performed with a full orchestra as well as being a chamber musician, accompanist for singers and for strings. Since I came to the United States, I have concentrated more on teaching.  I have taught piano at many music schools and have also given private lessons, both at students' homes and at my music studio.  My piano students have won multiple awards at music competitions in Russia and the United States.  In 2006, a student of mine won first prize at the West Chester University Music Competition.  Then in 2011, my students won prizes in the International Music Competition, the National League Competition and the Tri-County Competition. Each lesson begins with a chat while we gently stretch, breathe and prepare your body to sing. Singers are attached to their instrument and so getting your mind focused and getting comfortable in the singing space allows us to have as productive a lesson as we can. We work on vocalizes and technique next- to properly warm you up and strengthen your instrument. I take a student-led approach where I assess what a student is interested in and then create a repertoire of music for them to learn from. I like to teach concepts through example by showing students songs and pieces related to what they're working on. I try to start from the ground up as much as possible. I take students from learning notes on the strings to playing scales and chords, all the way to having them play and write advanced material. Read More

I pay special attention to the students' reactions and guide them from there because passion for the instrument is the top priority, and is the fuel to keep a musician going whether it is for a career or a hobby. I start by giving the student trivial assignments, but will quickly ramp it up to find their limits. If I find the student's limit, I will keep it just below that so the student can accomplish the given tasks, yet they can be outside their comfort zone. Read More
