I started teaching in 2009 in Mississippi. I taught 6th grade band (beginner), 7th grade band, and high school. I taught in Mississippi for 5 years and just recently moved to Tennessee. While teaching, I've given private lessons to some of my students after school and to some students who did not attend my school. My jazz instruction took me through the Michael Aaron method and the Mikrokosmos. For beginners I want to break down how the voice really works. Not everyone is taught how the vibrations in our throat and body impact how we hear from each other. Once we learn the human body I jump right into vocal exercises that show the vowel differences and easiest ways to sing notes that we all used to think were too high or too low.
