Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

Being able to teach others and share my knowledge is what drives me, so I like to see progress. I have a goal-oriented approach that differs depending on the individual, but the results are always there. I love feeling the satisfaction of a student learning. Not to mention the relationships that are built and how much I learn from them in turn! It truly is a give and take relationship, just another individual sharing experience and knowledge. Read More

Although my collegiate educational background is not primarily in music, I have vast knowledge of music theory, and understand that each student has individual needs. My biggest method that has the most success, no matter the subject of training is "I Do, We Do, You Do". When teaching a new musical concept, it is most important for a student to have an understanding of the principle. I would explain the concept, and give an example by demonstrating the concept (I Do), however many times the student needs me to do so, and they would practice the concept with me (We Do), and once they feel comfortable trying the concept on their own, I would have them demonstrate the concept for me until mastery is achieved (You Do). I am a dedicated clarinetists and private instructor, and I love being able to teach people of all ages and skill levels. I am a Sophomore Music Industry major at Middle Tennessee State University. One of my biggest enjoyments of the clarinet is solo repertoire, and I've participated extensively in competitions all over. I've also enjoyed playing in a variety of youth and collegiate orchestras, and find that orchestra is one more thing I am passionate about. Read More

As a teacher, I can adapt my teaching style to fit the unique strengths and needs of each individual student. I can work towards their goals which could include, preparing for school band concerts, preparing for auditions, learning their favorite songs, joining a band, or anything else they desire. I strive to foster an encouraging environment for self-growth, self-expression, and dedication to art. Since effective practice methods are important, I work with each student to determine their learning style and accommodate accordingly so they can achieve their best practice. Read More

My teaching style is pretty simple...Teach for enjoyment! I use the Suzuki method for classical teaching. Beginners will have fun learning correct posture and technique. For intermediate level students, I build on what they already know as well as improve basic skills that may have been overlooked. For those who already play at a high level, I use coaching techniques to help make the sound more musical and enjoyable for the listener. Read More
