I have been with Musika in the Nashville/Brentwood area for ten years after a twelve year hiatus from teaching. Before touring as a full-time artist starting in 1998 I had already taught piano and voice for fourteen years in the Los Angeles area. Some of my former students are themselves music teachers and professional musicians. I can give recommendations if need be. I have been a professional musician for over thirty years. Read More

Ive been teaching saxophone and piano lessons professionally for the last 7 years, and have had students go on to play for the Utah All-State Jazz Band and have earned several scholarships. I encourage regular practicing and give weekly assignments that include rudiments, transcription projects, and listening assignments. I focus on the jazz language and how its been applied to modern genres like hip hop, funk, and RnB. My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music and be successful! I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. I try and be an encouraging teacher while also providing constructive criticism so my studnet always feel like theyre growing in a safe environment. Read More

I taught a few students at my home and after high school attended Southern Union where I graduated with an associate in arts degree. In 1976 I graduated from Auburn University with a BS in Music Education. Read More

I believe music is one of the most important things you can have in life. Guitar is the instrument that I feel most connected to. I started playing about six years ago, but playing music has been a part of my life going back 16 years, when I was learning drumset. I've also become quite fluent with piano. As a songwriter, I use all three instruments to express myself in different ways. Read More

I have been around music practically since I was born, as my parents were both professional musicians and our house was constantly filled with the sounds of Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert. I initially decided to study piano and violin performance but changed my focus to education and teaching. As a passionate musician, I have enjoyed playing in symphony orchestras through the years, and I've found that being part of a group of people whose purpose is to produce a beautiful work of art is one of the most enjoyable experiences one can have.
