My personal background with singing is in opera, classical and musical theatre. I have sung all over the world in various theaters and have accumulated a wealth of knowledge about singing technique but also know how about the business itself. With this experience I have been able to help my students navigate any technical issues with their singing as well as reach their personal goals of success through the industry. Read More

At the student's first lesson, I do a lot of observing. I like to find out their mobile dexterity, what they may already know about music or their instrument, and go from there. I'll usually decide with the student what their goals and objectives for their instrument will be so that they have something to work towards. As a teacher who is big on encouragement, I use a rewards method. Read More

I emphasize the benefits music gifts us in regards to developing the brain as much as possible, while making music fun. No matter the style, the psychological benefits music offers are limitless. Giving the whole musical experience keeps people wanting to play and wanting to better themselves as individuals.Whether you want to learn your favorite pop song or a full Beethoven concerto, to anything inbetween, I will personally write a lesson plan for each individual student. The method used for teaching a student how to enjoy music should be practical, intuitive, and natural. I begin by training a student how to listen (in the same way that a child would hear words before he could speak). From that point, a student learns to "speak" or play musical sentences. Finally, the reading skills are developed. Through this approach, musical literacy is founded and then the art of mastering the instrument begins by developing sensitivity and fine musicianship. Instruments: Voice

My method of coaching focuses on three main areas: diaphragmatic breathing, vocal fold alignment, and proper laryngeal positioning. These three areas have a direct impact on tone quality, placement and ease of transition from chest voice to mix voice. The first few lessons with a new student always begins with good diaphragmatic breathing exercises combined with edging techniques for fold alignment up to the first vocal bridge. Once the student feels comfortable in both of those areas, I then combine those areas with proper larynx positioning to seamlessly navigate their first vocal bridge! Read More

Music is fun, no matter how tedious the learning process may be. With practice and determination, a student will be able to progress and love their instrument even more. Each week we will determine realistic goals for the student. If progress is made, I may come up with something creative ways to reward my students for their work. As long as I inspire and touch the lives of my students, I will feel rewarded as well. Read More

I approach teaching from a place of understanding. The last thing anyone wants is to be frustrated by the thing they're passionate about! Not everyone learns at the same pace, so if a student is struggling with a passage or technique, I'll set realistic goals to motivate them to improve their skill in a way that entices them to continue. Whether it's breaking up a song into sections or slowing down a complicated solo until we nail the right notes, there's always a light at the end of the tunnel. Read More
