I started my professional music career in 1983 when I joined an all-girls band. After 3 years traveling and recording with the band I struck out on my own and did a one woman show for 17 years. In 1993 I moved to Branson, MO and performed in my own show on the Lake Queen Riverboat for five years. In 1997 I moved back to my hometown of Nashville, TN and focused on my private music teaching and songwriting. Read More

I then move on to basic note recognition on paper. This allows them to be able to visually identify when notes are moving up and down and so on. Once they become more comfortable with this method, I move onto memorizing and learning new repertoire. For more advanced students, I really try to hone in on these things while also focusing deeper on their technique. I try to really stay within the student's interests no matter what level, while also giving them things outside of their box to challenge them and help them grow. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone
While I find most beginning band method books to be effective, I often integrate exercises from saxophone-specific texts, such as: Larry Teal's Saxophonists Workbooks, Rubank Method books of all levels, and for more advanced students Rascher's Top Tones and Londeix's Le Detache. I possess a wide knowledge of repertoire across genres, and cater to students' individual interests. While I foster technical development, I place my main emphasis on the students' enjoyment of the music they are performing, and believe that at every age and skill level one can perform confidently given the appropriate repertoire. Music is fun, no matter how tedious the learning process may be. With practice and determination, a student will be able to progress and love their instrument even more. Each week we will determine realistic goals for the student. If progress is made, I may come up with something creative ways to reward my students for their work. As long as I inspire and touch the lives of my students, I will feel rewarded as well. Read More
