ABOUT
Degrees / Training / Special Info:

Guitar Performance, Audio Engineering

Overview:
I am a very passionate and motivated teacher who works with students of all ages. I believe that whether you are learning as a hobby or have the aspirations to make it a career, the focus of your studies needs to come from your love of music and the joy it brings you. I began playing guitar at 14 years old and in a decision to make it a career, I moved to Vancouver, BC where I studied Classical Guitar Performance and Audio Engineering. After graduating college in 2012 I left Vancouver and moved here, to Nashville.
EXPERIENCE
I began teaching private lessons while in college, teaching classical, electric and acoustic guitar. For the past 5 years that I have been in Nashville I have been teaching again for the last 2. I have experience in teaching students as young as 5 and as old as 65. There is no age limit on learning! Something I was always told in my lessons both, as a teenager and in college was that it is vastly more important to practice a little each day than to try and cram a marathon session into one day. That has stuck with me and is something I stress to each and every one of my students.
METHODS USED
Whether you are a beginner or a professional, I cannot stress the philosophy that practicing a little each and every day is vastly more important than trying to cram it all into one day out of your week. If you are a beginner we start with the very basics such as the Hal Leonard method or something similar. I also find it very important to learn your musical tastes and goals! This goes a long way in how I approach your continued study. I believe a blend of classical and contemporary study is important in developing the mastery of your instrument.
LESSON STYLE
I believe, first and foremost, your passion for music and your instrument is the most important element when learning. There is nothing better than seeing a students eyes light up when they have accomplished their goal! With that said, I want to know what music inspires you and what styles you love. I grew up worshiping Stevie Ray Vaughn and so I focused on blues music as a young kid but draw inspiration from all different genres and learned many forms and styles. I tailor my lessons to your specific tastes. I help students set realistic, achievable goals and obtain them!

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
