Regardless of their ages, I always attempt to establish what a student's interests in music are as well as their background and present faculties if applicable. From there, I attempt to develop an understanding of musical fundamentals (pitch, rhythm, timbre, dynamics) as they apply to their interests. It is crucial in my opinion to connect these essential elements of music to the context of a student's musical world. I had the good fortune to attend college for music as well as study at Drummers Collective. I started teaching just after college at several local music stores. I love to see my students get excited about music! I try to ignite the flame and get them to develop an interest of their own. Music should be a fun and positive part of our lives. While it's important to have fun, I also make sure students are gaining a solid foundation in the technical facility of the instrument. It will actually be my first experience at teaching. I'm glad to have chosen Musika for this new experience and can't wait to teach new students what I learnt from my own teachers. I want to transmit my knowledge in drums the best I could and make it fun for everybody. I will make the lesson about the student and what he/she likes and go from there.
