My name is Tina Chapkinyan. I am a violin teacher for beginner and advanced students. I also teach beginner piano. I have over thirty years of experience teaching classical music, which is the base of all musical styles. My teaching style, which I have developed through experience and continuous musical education, is based on my formal Russian musical education. I always get to know each and every one of my students on individual basis and develop personalized curriculum based on his or her character, goals and ambitions. Read More

I have been teaching guitar, formally, for a little over two years. I currently am teaching students through my own business and other student referral websites. Teaching is key to any career musician's income, my love of teaching is not strictly monetary. To help students set goals, work towards their dreams and realize their potential is an experience I wouldn't want anyone to miss. Besides the joys of being of service and seeing the light come on in my student's eyes, teaching keeps me on my toes, always learning new things and progressing my own musical dreams. Read More

My first emphasis is that you have to like what you're playing. I really try to focus on what music gets the student excited. For some of them, it comes quickly. Others it might take a while, and that is okay. Once I find the switch that engages the student's interest, that is my focus. I really emphasize getting students to read music and also understand the key components of music theory, so that they understand what it is they are playing. Read More

Once the student begins to progress more, I will then move forward to more complex terms, theory and genres of music that it is applied. For older students and adults, I will ask what their goal is in wanting lessons with me and I will do my very best to keep the lesson engaging, fun and I will guide them as clear as I can to reach their dreams and beyond. I teach a combination of Suzuki and traditional methods. I grew up as a Suzuki student, but in my professional teaching life have learned to add additional methods into lessons to supplement training. For young, beginner students, I start them off with a method book like "All for Strings," which teaches first by rote. Not long after the students achieve the basic skills of the violin, we incorporate the Suzuki method and note reading. Read More
