I started to play the guitar at the age of twelve, but it wasnt until some years later that I found out about the beauty of the classical guitar. My experience goes back all the way to middle school. The first time I saw somebody playing a guitar I was surprised. I couldn't believe the melody that came out of it, and just how good it seemed the person playing was feeling. At the time I was about 11 years of age, when my mom bought my first guitar. I started playing very basic songs. Paint it Black by the Rolling Stones was the first song I learned, and I can remember like it was yesterday how hard it was for me to get used to carrying the guitar and the feeling of the strings in my fingers. I began teaching in 2001. I teach voice, piano, and didgeridoo. I have performed at multiple locations locally including the Broward Performing Arts Center and the Lincoln theater. I have taught college Theory classes and Music Appreciation classes and have my MA in music history and literature. I belong to local teaching associations and students have the opportunity to perform for local things like the Guild and Festival as well as compete in local and state competitions. Read More

For beginning students, we work on breathing and different warm up techniques. Once the student has progressed we will then start solo repertories for different genres. For adults, I try to research what insterest the student has in signing and guide my instruction towards the interest of the student so it can be fun. Read More

With beginning students, I like to use a combination of Alfreds Basic method books. I like the variety it gives students from fundamentals to performance tunes, sight reading and music theory. Students will progress from playing on black keys only, hands separately, to simple five key songs very quickly. We would also explore a few minutes in each lesson on games in music theory on iPad or with manipulatives so they will develop note reading skills. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to 8/2015. It was a friend through my father's. Since then, I have been consistently teaching in my home studio for 2 years now. Encouraging regular practice is important to produce consistent results. Although I am classically-inclined, contemporary (modern) music goes a long way in helping students to continue enjoying and learning the piano.
