He has won numerous awards including the First Prize at the 2012 Classical Minds Guitar Competition in Houston, TX. Ian has performed in masterclasses for acclaimed guitarists such as Lorenzo Michelli, Roland Dyens, Florian Larousse, Gabriel Bianco, Raphaella Smits, Jerome Mouffe, Marcin Dylla, Denis Azabagic and Jorge Caballero. I play in a wide variety of diverse musical groups on various instruments. I have performed with orchestras, big bands, and jazz combos as well as funk, hip hop, and even metal bands, all at a professional level. Although trombone is my main instrument, it has given me the solid foundation to play euphonium and tuba at a high level as well. Example, I would take a small little line or phrase of music, I would teach them the construct of rhythm, time, tempo, the style, articulation, and then apply the exercises or fudamentals around learning how to play the line properly. I graduated from Southern Methodist University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, and am currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Chamber Music Performance at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.
