Music is my life, my passion: I constantly maintain my demonstration of this, in my manner, my teaching, my performance. This, I find, is infectious to all who cross my path. I also maintain an attitude of gratitude for my talent, and my parents' love, support and encouragement of my music. By them placing me into lessons at the age of 6 (accordion!), along with my drive and dedication and high level of musical education, I am a full-time musician, performer, and music educator. Alfred Publishing piano courses (both older and newer), Faber and Faber, Bastien, Edna Mae Burnam, and the Hal Leonard course have all been among my pre-published methods that I have used over the years. I have also adopted some technic content from elsewhere. For example, the Zion Conservatory of Music, where I taught from 2004 to 2018, uses a couple of different customized scale patterns for first- and second-year students. A book I have used with intermediate students is a Conus Russian piano method edited by James and Susan McKeever, who taught the Parkside piano pedagogy courses. Read More

My instruction experience dates back to my time in high school, as I started instructing private lessons part time 11 years ago, and have been regularly teaching in my home studio throughout that time. Creating a consistent practice schedule is one of the ideas I like to emphasize for younger students, as it will be more likely to benefit student development, and help them grow a passion for the instrument. I have also discovered that a mixture of classical and jazz music can go a long way in helping students like the saxophone and influence them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

I love to see others excel in their unique gifts! I began piano as a little boy, but was discouraged from music lessons due to the teaching program. As I became older, I went from recorder, to saxophones, to improvisation, to piano, to singing, to flute, to basic wind instruments, eventually playing/composing/recording/touring with several of the most well-known of bands in the Southeastern Wisconsin area on vocals, saxophones, flute, and piano, as well as studying music at Carroll College. I first got into music when I was in elementary school. My first instrument was the upright bass fiddler. This help me learn the notes on the bass clef. I later learned to play trumpet which was the instrument that used to audition to get into the Navy Band. I also played piano for college that I worked at called the College of Lake County in Greyslake, IL. I now play the electronic piano at the church that I attend, Parklawn Assembly of God. Read More
