My teaching experience started in high school when I started teaching harp and piano part time. I had a close relationship with my music teachers growing up and I hope to establish the same type of relationship with my own students as I have with previous ones. It's also important that there is a balance between fun and time put in. Without practice, one cannot play an instrument well. I have been singing since the age of 10 when she first began performing at some of her father’s piano concerts. Graduating from both Lawrence University and Alverno College, she studied vocal performance, music education, and French. My favorite vocal genres include Broadway, Classical, Pop, Light Opera, and Jazz. For piano I use the Alfred series, and for violin and viola I use a combination of Essential Elements and Suzuki books.  As students advance I introduce additional solo repertoire.  My voice students learn from a variety of sources.  I usually start with a song they know well and work from there.  Students also learn a variety of warm-ups and sight-singing techniques.   Read More
