My philosophy is to teach of broad spectrum of musical skills, thoery, history and application in order to let the student personalize their love for the arts. I know that it took me a while to decide to be a music major and then even more to decide how I wanted to integrate music into my life - but I had teachers who inspired me to make music a driving force in every area of my life and I want to pass that same love on in my student’s lessons. I then provide several opportunities for the student to practice this new idea or skill in a variety of ways. Dennis H. has accompanied the Bethel College Women’s Choir on tour, Moody voice students, and Christian Youth Theater productions of “Annie”, “Narnia” and “The Little Princess”. As a past member of Frizane Music Ministries, he has entertained the public at Chicago’s Daley Plaza and in Independence Day parades in Elmwood Park, as well as several retirement communities. When I was 16, friends and family started asking me to teach them to play and I developed a love for teaching. At college I decided to study piano teaching to become the best teacher possible. My instruction experience dates back to my time in high school, as I started instructing private lessons part time 11 years ago, and have been regularly teaching in my home studio throughout that time. Creating a consistent practice schedule is one of the ideas I like to emphasize for younger students, as it will be more likely to benefit student development, and help them grow a passion for the instrument. Jill has been teaching children and adults for 20 years. I studied voice and piano and performed at various venues. Now, I focus more on teaching piano and voice. We work on technique, performance, note reading, sight reading, and interpretation. We also work on music theory. We do 2 recitals per year as well that are a low key and nice way for students to gain experience. I teach ages 6 and up. Read More
