I teach music the same way language is learned, as both involve learning to listen, speak, write, and read. I start students off with the skill of listening as I demonstrate how the instrument is played, and then move them into "speaking" by guiding them in the basics of technique that will allow them to begin producing basic sounds. As the student learns to create original musical ideas, I help them learn how to write them down in musical notation, which ultimately serves their ability to read music. Read More

My experience as a formal teacher began just over a year ago, when I took on a beginning student who had never played the instrument before. I have also been a tutor and mentor to my peers since my high school days when I was a section leader in our symphonic and jazz bands. and captain of the marching band. A few years ago, I taught the piano for approximately three years. I stopped teaching for a while in order to pursue my Bachelor's Degree - beginning at Dixie State University, and I am now working to build my clientele again. I absolutely love to teach. One of my favorite moments with every students happens at around the 4th or 5th lesson, when the student then feels comfortable enough to begin to discuss with me some of their goals with the piano. Even though I teach a wide array of musical stiles, every lesson will include the fundamentals and instrumental approach. Posture and Breathing are critical to emphasize every time we pick up our instrument. No matter what we are performing, this always applies and will be addressed as need be. I teach mostly Classical up to advanced level, jazz for begginers and also Klezmer and Folk styles. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing any of my students develop a passion for music and especially the style he loves. For example Classical period of XIX century or traditional Klezmer European style. There is always a challenge to choose good repertoire and teaching methods to each individual student.
