My main goal is to show students how amazing playing music can be. Nothing is more fufilling than watching a student become inspired to grow as they grasp new ideas and develop a new skill. It is important to instill efficient and productive practice values in a way that that is exciting and fun, and that will foster the desire to learn and progress. Because each person processes information and ideas differently, it is my job to find the best way to "click" with each student in order to maximize their learning and understanding. Read More

My teaching experience began during my time spent as an undergraduate in college. Since then, I have become increasingly dedicated and engaged with my commitment to teaching students music / guitar. Consistent practice and commitment to the instrument is always something I encourage in students, something I believe comes naturally when students find themselves constantly enjoying/having fun learning/playing the instrument. Above all, I do believe that having fun while learning an instrument is not only ideal, but necessary. Read More
Instruments: Double Bass Music
For beginning students, we typically begin with Essential Elements while discovering fundamentals of the instrument and getting a handle on reading bass clef and rhythms. This of course varies on a student's previous experience or comfort with reading music. We progress from there into appropriate etudes that can be quite melodic and entertaining to practice and then beginning solo repertoire, and advance from there. I always encourage students to have a goal piece in mind that they would like to play, especially my adult students, so we can frame our goals around that and set up a plan of action as we move forward. I like to first assess where the student is at experience wise as well as what their personal goals are. If they are just starting to play guitar I can show them chords and songs that are not too difficult and help them develop their style from the get go. If they are a little more advanced and have a grasp already on certain techniques and scales then I can help guide their interests more and help them realize their goals whether it be songwriting based or performance based I feel my method can help anyone interested. Depending on the level the student is at I will work with them where they are at and what is needed. If a beginning student I will usually start off with working on scales and use visual tools such as books to help aid the process. I will usually get the student to play or perform some sort of song no matter how simple it is, maybe even get them to make up their own song based off of what they learned. Read More
