I started studying at the age of 7 and never looked back. I'm about to graduate with my degree in vocal performance and have already completed my pedagogy requirements. I have 4 years of teaching experience, and 13+ years of performing experience. I primarily perform opera, however I have extensive experience in musical theater, solo jazz and in vocal jazz ensembles, as well as concert and chamber choirs. I am comfortable teaching any of these styles, though of course when it comes to opera younger students will start with art song and other classical styles that are more suited to the less mature voice. The spark in the eye as a musical concept clicks with a student is what drives me as a teacher. If I can lead the student to these discoveries then I am fulfilled as a teacher. Everyone has their own rhythm and will advance at different speeds. Some increase steadily while others make rapid progress and then plateau for a little while. Helping students stay motivated and avoiding the ruts is a big concern for me. Read More

For the younger beginning students, I usually start with Alfred's Beginning Piano Series. Once the student has a grasp of the fundementals, I will begin introducing major and minor scales as well as solo repertoire. For my adult students I will see their level of ability and musical interests, find appropriate material based on their taste and formulate the lesson to include fun stuff as well as build proper mechanics.  For my horn lessons depending on the skill level I being with Essential Elements or the Arban book and build from there incorporating solos of the greats, and songs that they want to learn to play. My teaching experience started while finishing my second program in college in 2016. With a career planned, I was ready to start sharing the ways of the fretboard to my students. With that, comes something thats most important, dedication. With dedication, you start a practice strategy, whether you want to memorize all the 12 major scales in all five CAGED patterns, or learn Hendrix's "Purple Haze" there must be dedication. Setting goals is very important to learning music, or your instrument, achieving is when you've finally reached what you've strived for, and challenge is when you take your goal and add some "spice" to it, whether it's playing faster, or learning the modes of the major scale. My teaching experience immediately began after high school, as I began teaching lessons part time I wanted to grow more as an educator and grasped at the opportunity . I got the opportunity to become a marching band coach for high school. Much of the focus on my work was the testing of the memorization of students' music and music tonality of a section in the marching band whether it be low brass or woodwinds. Read More

I am a music composer and vocalist who enjoys writing music that breaks harmonic and timbral conventions. I have spent the past 12 years of my life studying to become a better musician, performer, and composer. I love to use my knowledge and experience to teach the next generation of musicians and performers.
