For begginging piano sudents who are children I typicall being with John Thompson's "Teaching Little Fingers to Play." Once the student has completed their fundemental training we being to introduce more solo repertoire tailored to their interested. We work on one classical and one comtemporary song of their choosing. For adult piano students, we discuss their goals and what they are interested in and I tailor my instruction no matter their instrumental expereince.  For Voice students I asses each vocalist and provide a completley unique one of kind vocal lesson package tailored to the students ability, sound, and experience no matter what that may be. I use Alfreds guitar method books for guitar and bass.  Piano I use the Bastian and others.  I teach from both my song books, and by thier cd or audio tracks.  I teach each student individually and move them forward to performance level. I teach how to read music and music ear training.  Theory training is also available at lessons as needed. Once I get the student past the basics on to intermediate level, I can listen to cd or audio recordings and reproduce the instrumental part on the spot. Read More

I emphasize tone production, phrasing, and expressive interpretation, drawing from the traditions of Segovia, Tarrega, and Villa-Lobos. For beginning students I typically teach using Frederick Noad's Solo Guitar Playing I. We eventually progress to Andres Segovia's Diatonic Major and Minor Scales then Scott Tenant's Pumping Nylon. For more advanced students we would often jump into simple pieces by Ferdinando Carulli followed by Opus 60 by Matteo Carcassi and Estudios Sencillos by Leo Brouwer. Students who are dedicated and consistently practice are playing pieces by Sor, Guliani, Tarrega, Villa-Lobos and the like usually with in six months. Read More
