For young beginners, I prefer to use Alfred, piano adventure and Bastien method book. I also use piano tree to teach young kids as well. Once my students finish the fundamental study I will begin to introduce classical pieces and all other genres as well. Recognizing that each student is unique, i.e., their instruments, learning styles, mental and emotional make-up, etc., I need to be flexible in how I work with each student. There is no one-size-fits-all! I work to understand each student's learning style and adapt my teaching accordingly. I ask a lot of questions, asking the student to think about their own learning style, what they are experiencing, hearing, and feeling. This not only gives me cues on how to better adapt my teaching style to them, but gets them thinking about what they are doing and reinforces their learning, which in turn helps them in their own practice by starting to become their own best teacher. I am very flexible in my approach.  I understand that there are many way to achieve the desired result.  I am always available to answer questions and welcome them.  I am not doctrinaire in my approach.  Each student is unique in their strengths and areas which need more attention and I strive to meet these needs on the individual level. I began teaching in high school, where I taught lessons to the younger students as well as instructed my jazz band in improvisation lessons. I enjoyed problem solving with my students and figuring out the appropriate exercise or explanation to help them get over a particular hurdle. In college I taught at a music school, where I branched out from teaching saxophone to clarinet, flute, and piano as well. I also gained a lot of experience with very young students at this school. I was teaching children age from 8-14 at Municipal Higher Education Establishment of Choreographic Arts and also give private vocal lessons to students from age 25-68. I love working with beginners because they are open for new experience and ready to receive information. My aspirations as a violin instructor are to enable students to identify, understand, and assess challenges they contend to search for possible solutions. I am a proponent of self-directed learning, and intentionally create situations in class that allow the students to learn through the unconventional approach. I also encourage students to come up with their own exercises and possible solutions for any challenge they encounter.
