This is my first time teaching private lessons. I have been playing for 9 years and singing for 10. I have taken private lessons in the past but I am looking forward to being able to teach the thing that I love to do. I am a fun, hardworking, and dedicated teacher and hope I can make an impact on my students. My motto is if you are not having fun while working hard then we are not doing it right. Read More
Instruments: Drums
I started drumming when I was 13 years old with the desire to join a rock band. My first teacher was Jaime Jesperson, who opened my eyes to the world of advanced drumming styles beyond the world of rock music. My studies with him prepared me to study with Jay Lawrence, Utah's premier jazz drummer, and to qualify for a music scholarship at Brigham Young University, where I performed in several jazz groups and orchestral groups. I have been teaching on and off for the past 3-5 years. Every student I have had has been a awesome and rewarding experience. What I especially love about teaching is learning alongside my student with what they are interested in and sharing that bond and musical taste. To me drumming is the most fun you can have with a musical instrument, and that's how I want my lessons to be. Read More

I've been lucky enough to perform all over the U.S. and a lot of Europe by touring with different bands in high school, college, and independent touring groups. I've been teaching private lessons off and on for about 5 years now. It's been a goal of mine to learn as many instruments as possible throughout my life and focus on the instruments I love. I've been able to learn the piano, organ, all kinds of guitars, clarinet, oboe, saxophone, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, percussion instruments, and vocals. Read More

For beginning students, I use a couple of different method books including one of my own. I also focus on what rhythm really is and try to get the student to develop timing skills and reading skills too. I like to teach songs for several reasons, one being it teaches the student to develop certain skills and timing skills that are necessary for the student. I cover rudiments, snare drum reading, fill development, rhythm chart playing, subdivisions of notes. Read More

Each student has his profile, so I seek to adapt the methodology of teaching according to the individual needs and personal choices of each student. For beginners looking to learn to read sheet music, I usually adopt the books of Michael Aaron or James Bastien (for small children). For those students who wish to develop their musicality without reading shuffles, I teach through imitation learning, the development of auditory perception and creativity. Read More

I dont believe in high pressure, the instructor student relationship should be one of support not rivalry or condemnation. That is not to say that a strong practice ethic is not expected. Repetition is a proven way to build any skill and drumming is no different. One of the most important aspects of practicing is to enjoy practice, so I work with students to develop a practice space and a routine. Read More
